21st Century
Poetry turned to where is once came from: music. The very first poets use to sing and rhyme their stories and the 21st century is marked by this feature. Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Tracy Chapman, Tori Amo are just a few names to mention.
In the 90s a new subgenre emerged: rap music.
The 21st century is also notable for the amount of bestseller writers. These are usually not considered to be of high literature value. For example: Anne Rice, Dan Brown, Nicci French.
The drama scene also changed dramatically and even though people still enjoy going to the theatre most prefer the new stage; the movies. Film directors have taken up the part of stage writers: Alfred Hitchcock, Francis Ford Coppola, Quentin Tarantino.
